We are very honored that John Hess will be our guest speaker at our next leadership meeting on Saturday, June 15, from 12:30 to 2:00 in the Community Meeting Room at the St. Anthony Library, 2941 Pentagon Dr. N.E., St. Anthony, 55418. If you like, you may bring a pre-packaged food item to share, like crackers, cookies, or chips; but, please try to stay away from anything with nuts, to be sensitive to any nut allergies.

John is blind and uses a service dog by the name of Cody. He has led a fun and fascinating life, and we think that you would be enriched and entertained by John’s stories.

Here is John’s bio:

“From 1998 through 2007 I worked as a senior associate for De Witt & Associates located in Midland Park NJ.  In this position I provided client assessments and equipment recommendations to counselors at the Commission for the blind and visually impaired as well as delivered and set up the equipment and taught clients how to use it. I also conducted job site assessments and configured Jaws and other adaptive software and hardware to work with the employer’s equipment.

In April of 2008 I accepted a position as Technology services coordinator with Visions Services for the blind located in mid-town New York. During this time I served as an instructor as well as created new classes, kept on going records of students’ progress, conducted workshops on technology, and worked individually with clients from the New York commission for the Blind.

On January of 2010 I Moved to Minnesota to work for State Services for the Blind in St. Paul as an assistive technology specialist conducting assessments, recommending technology to counselors, delivering and setting up equipment for clients and providing technical support.”

Hope to see you there for a great afternoon!
