5-8:30 p.m. Nov. 9
The 2013 Sleep Out campaign kicks off this year with a community block party, poverty simulation and prayer walk, all at IOCP.
5 p.m. Sleep Out Prayer Walk
Join your neighbors and friends in a pre-party prayer walk for the success of the 2013 Sleep Out campaign. We’ll begin at IOCP at 5 p.m. and process through the IOCP neighborhood as we pray together for the struggling families in our community.
6 p.m. Community Block Party
The block party begins in our parking lot at 6 p.m. Our favorite local band, Tapestry, will provide the tunes to get us all moving together to help our neighbors through the 2013 Sleep Out campaign. A great addition will be a few of the area’s best food trucks with food for sale that will satisfy the most ravenous of hungers.
Inside guests can participate in two service/learning activities: Packing food for delivery to the elderly and an interactive learning game around education and literacy.
7 p.m. Poverty Simulation
At 7 p.m., you’re invited to move inside IOCP’s building for a unique opportunity to experience the struggles of low-income families through a 90-minute facilitated poverty simulation exercise. This is a great learning opportunity for individuals or families with kids ages 10+ and teens. You will walk in the shoes of an IOCP family as they struggle to make ends meet. All are welcome. Space is limited, so reserve your spot(s) now.
Saturday, actually…..
